DeeAnn Dominy is a Texas-bred and Nashville-based chanteuse and roots rock/country artist. Though she started singing at 5, it was watching Tanya Tucker play at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo that spurred her interest in country music. With Tanya, Johnny Cash, and eventually Kid Rock as her influences, she began to write songs and perform original music which garnered her a faithful following around the Dallas/Ft Worth area for several years. After moving to Nashville, DeeAnn quickly became recognized for her unique, un-homogenized vocals and authentic songwriting. Honing her craft, she wrote for many Music Row companies including Starstruck Entertainment, Warner Chappell, and Pacific Bridge Music. Since then, she has opened for Vince Gill, Raul Malo, Emmylou Harris, Phil Vassar, and Jeff Bates at various shows and her impressive co-writer list includes respected songsmiths such as Byron Hill, Randy Scruggs, and Wynn Varble. With her Texas roots deeply imbedded in her soul, DeeAnn‘s voice is the unexpected place where Jeannie C. Riley meets Janis Joplin. Like recent outlaw Miranda Lambert, she stands fearless, the picture of self-possession even as she sings about family, God, guns, cigarettes, prisons, and righting wrongs. Equally present is a vulnerable child-like emotion in her ballads, lending them a confessional and reflective quality. Appropriately, DeeAnn’s first release was self-penned “Based On A True Story”, it’s sweet, but tough as nails.
“There’s an old saying that in Texas, they do things in a big way. DeeAnn Dominy is a first-rate example of this fact, as the Lone Star state native has received her share of critical acclaim…thanks to her debut EP, “Based On A True Story.”
— Chuck Dauphin, Billboard Magazine
“She sings in a throaty, husky alto that is gripping. As a songwriter, she is equally gritty on ballads…our DisCovery Award winner whom some Music Row star maker needs to sign up pronto.”
— Robert K. Oermann, Music Row Magazine
“This former DisCovery Award winner is back and sounding better than ever. Her raspy, blue-eyed soul voice remains truly gripping. The bass groove on this bluesy country rocker rumbles righteously, and her electric guitarist totally gets on board. Essential listening.”
— Robert K. Oermann, Music Row Magazine, 2015
